As glaciers retreated they left Eskers ;these were like mounds of earth and rocks with a river running underneath. On my visit to the Tundra 1 1/2 hours of Yellowknife, Northwest Territories where I live; we saw these amazing rocks left behind by the retreating glaciers called outliers and considered the younger rocks.
